Tell Halong Shore Excursion about every baby and child when the excursion vehicle is selected. Do not remove an infant from the passenger count because the child may sit on an adult’s lap. The operator needs the full travelling party, ages, heights, requested child restraints, luggage and mobility equipment before confirming a suitable vehicle.
A free or reduced child ticket does not mean the child uses no transport capacity.

Send the real party list
For each traveller, send:
- adult, child or infant;
- age on the travel date;
- height when relevant to a requested restraint or activity rule;
- whether a separate seat is required;
- child seat or booster request;
- folded stroller dimensions;
- luggage and mobility equipment;
- any need for an adult to sit beside the child.
Passenger count is only the first step. The seat arrangement and storage space must also work.
Why “the baby can sit on my lap” is not a vehicle plan
An adult holding a child does not create another fitted seat or restraint position. It can also force an unsuitable seating arrangement for the rest of the party. Ask what vehicle, seating and child-safety equipment Halong Shore Excursion can actually confirm for the road sectors.
Vietnam’s current road-safety law contains rules for children and vehicle safety. Requirements can depend on the child, vehicle and transport classification. Obtain the arrangement for the booked vehicle rather than relying on a general online summary.
Confirm the child restraint separately
A vehicle with enough passenger seats does not automatically have the correct child seat, booster, belt geometry or anchorage. Send the child’s age, height and weight requested by the equipment provider, then ask for:
- restraint type;
- forward-facing or rear-facing arrangement;
- vehicle seating position;
- installation method;
- whether the item is dedicated to your booking;
- what happens if the vehicle changes.
Use the Halong child-car-seat checklist for the complete confirmation. Families should bring any instruction or equipment that their child depends on when the operator has agreed it can be fitted.
Vehicle capacity and luggage capacity are different
A vehicle may have enough registered passenger seats but insufficient safe space for cruise luggage, stroller, wheelchair, walker and day bags. Items should not block exits, aisles or seat-belt use.
Provide the number and approximate size of suitcases, the stroller fold size and the dimensions of mobility equipment. This is especially important on an embarkation or disembarkation transfer when the family carries more than a shore-day bag.
A stroller is not a passenger, but it changes the vehicle
Ask where the folded stroller will be stored and whether it must be lifted into a luggage compartment. A large travel system can remove space expected for suitcases or a folded wheelchair.
Also check whether the stroller can be used at each stop. Vehicle capacity does not prove that a day boat, cave, island, temple or crowded path can accept it.
Children from several cabins
When relatives or friends combine bookings, count every traveller once and name the adults responsible for each child. Do not let separate cabins send different totals to the operator.
Use one final party list with the booking lead. If the group size changes, follow the Halong group-size change plan and obtain a revised vehicle and total before the port day.
Private vehicle does not mean unlimited capacity
A private vehicle is dedicated to the confirmed party; it is still limited by its lawful seating, belts, equipment and storage. Adding one infant can require a different vehicle or seating plan.
Private pickup and return remain flexible by agreement. Vehicle suitability should be fixed before departure. Do not accept crowding because the start time has already arrived.
Shared excursion
A shared tour needs an accurate count for both the road vehicle and the group operation. Tell Halong Shore Excursion about an infant even when the attraction or meal does not charge that age.
Confirm whether the child receives a separate seat, which restraint is available, maximum group size, stroller storage and whether the shared pace fits feeding, toilet and rest needs. Other passengers should not be expected to give up assigned or required seating.
The day boat has a separate count
Road-vehicle capacity, sightseeing-boat capacity and activity eligibility are different controls. A child included in the car count must also be declared for the boat manifest or passenger information required by the operator.
Ask about a suitable life jacket, adult supervision, boarding steps, railings, toilets and the child rule for every kayak, bamboo boat, cave or island stop. The Halong Bay passenger-information guide explains why correct details may be required before sailing.
Child prices use different rules
Transport capacity should not be inferred from a child price. A supplier may classify a child by age, height or another published rule for admission, meals or activities. Those categories can differ within one itinerary.
Ask Halong Shore Excursion to itemise the rule for each component. The vehicle still needs the true passenger count.
If the vehicle arrives with too few suitable seats
Do not start until Halong Shore Excursion confirms a safe solution. Send the actual party count, vehicle plate, visible seating, restraint issue and meeting location through the known channel.
The options may include a suitable replacement vehicle, an additional confirmed vehicle or a revised party arrangement. Do not split children from their responsible adults or send part of the group with an unverified driver.
If a child becomes ill or tired
Confirm before departure whether the private road vehicle can return early and whether a shared sightseeing boat or group schedule prevents an immediate return. Keep essential medicine, water, clothing and ship cards with the responsible adult.
A shorter route can be the safest alternative. Recalculate from the child’s condition, vehicle position and ship deadline rather than trying to complete every paid stop.
Arrival-day check
- Every adult, child and infant appears on the final list.
- Vehicle model or capacity is confirmed for that list.
- Child restraint and seating position are agreed.
- Luggage, stroller and mobility equipment fit safely.
- Responsible adults remain with their children.
- Boat and activity rules are checked separately.
- Guide or driver replacement does not alter the vehicle plan.
- Late ship release triggers a shorter itinerary, not unsafe loading.
Count the child first, then verify the seat, restraint and storage. Halong Shore Excursion’s decision sequence is Ship + Arrival Date → every passenger → ages and heights → child restraint → luggage and equipment → road vehicle → boat and activity rules → family pace → protected return. An accurate list prevents the smallest passenger from creating the largest problem at the port.
