Nearest Hospitals for Halong Cruise Port Passengers

For an emergency ashore in Halong, call 115 for an ambulance and let the responding medical service advise where to go. Aboard the cruise ship, alert the crew or medical team immediately. The hospital that looks closest on a map may not be the right facility for the condition.

Two hospitals cruise passengers can save are Bai Chay Hospital and Vinmec Ha Long International Hospital. Both publish emergency services, but contact details do not guarantee ambulance availability, a particular specialist, admission or treatment.

Bai Chay Hospital — Bệnh viện Bãi Cháy

Bai Chay Hospital is a public general hospital.

  • Emergency telephone: +84 915 289 866; within Vietnam, 0915 289 866.
  • Address: Viet Hung Ward, Quang Ninh, Vietnam — Phường Việt Hưng, Quảng Ninh.
  • Vietnamese name to show a driver: Bệnh viện Bãi Cháy.

The hospital’s current website places it in Viet Hung Ward. A ward name identifies the area, not the emergency entrance. Ask the hospital, ambulance team or driver for the correct entrance.

Vinmec Ha Long International Hospital — Bệnh viện Đa khoa Quốc tế Vinmec Hạ Long

Vinmec Ha Long is a private general hospital. Its emergency service is published as operating around the clock; outpatient departments have their own schedules.

  • Hospital hotline: +84 203 382 8188; within Vietnam, 0203 3828 188.
  • Address: 10A Le Thanh Tong Street, Hong Gai Ward, Quang Ninh, Vietnam — Số 10A đường Lê Thánh Tông, phường Hồng Gai, Quảng Ninh.
  • Vietnamese name to show a driver: Bệnh viện Đa khoa Quốc tế Vinmec Hạ Long.

A 24-hour emergency department does not mean every specialist clinic, diagnostic appointment or insurance desk is available at all hours. Call before travel when the need is urgent but not an immediate emergency.

The contact numbers, addresses and emergency-service information above were checked against hospital-published information on 12 October 2026. Reconfirm before a planned visit.

How to choose between a hospital, clinic and pharmacy

Emergency or rapidly worsening condition: use 115 or the ship’s emergency process and follow medical direction.

Urgent but stable problem: contact the ship medical team, insurer assistance line or hospital and ask which department can receive the passenger now.

Routine medicine or minor self-care need: a pharmacy may be appropriate only when the passenger’s clinician or safe medication plan supports it. Use the Halong pharmacy guide; do not delay necessary assessment to search for medicine.

State the real starting location

Halong International Cruise Port, Cai Lan and Tuan Chau are different starting points. “Halong port” is not enough to calculate transport or direct an ambulance.

Inside the cruise terminal or secured berth area, give:

  • the full port name, Cảng tàu khách quốc tế Hạ Long;
  • ship name;
  • berth, Main Lobby, public entrance or nearby sign;
  • a working callback number.

Notify port staff so they can explain controlled access. On a local bay boat, alert the captain or crew first; they know the vessel’s position and practical landing point.

The Halong emergency-number guide gives the 112, 113, 114 and 115 roles and short Vietnamese requests for help.

Ask for language help

Ask whether an English-speaking staff member or interpreter is available. Keep the guide, driver or another Vietnamese-speaking helper on the call when useful, while the patient or companion remains available for questions.

Show the hospital’s Vietnamese name and address rather than relying on an English map result. Confirm the destination before the vehicle departs.

Bring useful information without delaying emergency care

  • Passport or identification if readily available.
  • Ship card and ship emergency contact.
  • Medication list, allergies and important diagnoses.
  • Travel-insurance assistance number and policy reference.
  • A companion’s working number.
  • Needed mobility, hearing or communication support.

Do not delay emergency help to return to the ship for paperwork. A companion can retrieve or send information later.

Confirm insurance and payment for planned care

For a stable, planned visit, ask the hospital and insurer:

  • Can the relevant department receive the passenger now?
  • Has direct billing been approved for this policy and visit?
  • Is a deposit required and which payment methods are accepted?
  • Which medical report, itemised bill, prescription and receipts should be kept?
  • Does the insurer require contact before non-emergency treatment?

A hospital displaying an insurer logo does not prove that an individual claim is covered. Emergency care should not wait while a passenger searches for an insurance approval.

Keep the ship and return plan updated

Have one companion tell the ship or port agent and Halong Shore Excursion which hospital is receiving the passenger, who is accompanying them and how both can be contacted.

Tell the treating clinician that the patient is a cruise passenger and provide all aboard and onward-travel details. Ask the ship medical team and clinician about safe continuation; do not leave needed care solely to protect a sightseeing schedule.

If treatment may extend beyond all aboard, contact the ship and port agent immediately. Do not assume the vessel will wait.

Halong Shore Excursion can add hospital names, emergency numbers, ship contacts and the port return chain to a passenger’s offline plan. In an emergency, the priority is the right response and accurate location, not the shortest map route.
