Do not book a Halong shore excursion around Soi Sim Beach unless the operator confirms that your specific sailing is permitted to land there. Seeing Soi Sim on an old itinerary, map or photograph does not confirm current visitor access.
Halong Shore Excursion recommends agreeing an alternative you would still enjoy before paying. The boat can pass an island without being allowed to put passengers ashore, and a route name does not guarantee every stop on every date.
What is the latest verified position?
Research checked on 13 September 2026 found no official notice confirming that Soi Sim Beach had reopened to visitors. The latest official material located was published in June 2026.
Quang Ninh’s official portal reported that the Ha Long Bay–Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board was working toward reopening the beach. It said infrastructure, safety, rescue and operating arrangements were being reviewed, while businesses and boat crews were asked to tell visitors about the temporary suspension and guide them to other stops on Route 2.
The Management Board’s own June report described an inspection and preparations for future tourism use. An inspection, a plan or a hoped-for reopening is not an operating decision. Access may change after this article is checked, so the useful evidence is current confirmation for the date and boat you will use.
Ask what “Soi Sim” means in the itinerary
Request a clear answer for each promised activity:
- Passing: the boat sails near the island, with no landing.
- Landing: passengers go ashore at an authorised landing point.
- Beach visit: passengers can use the beach area under current instructions.
- Swimming: swimming is permitted for that stop and conditions allow it.
- Walking route: a particular path or viewpoint is open and included.
Do not let “visit Soi Sim” stand for all five. Ask the seller to put the included experience and the replacement stop in the booking record.
What should the operator confirm?
- Is landing currently permitted for this excursion date and type of boat?
- Does the confirmed programme include going ashore, or only passing the island?
- Which current authority or route instruction supports the answer?
- What replaces Soi Sim if access, weather or operations change?
- Does the price or duration change when the substitute is used?
- When will the decision be communicated to passengers?
A private charter still needs permission to use its stops. Paying more or using a smaller boat does not create access to a suspended landing.
Do not infer accessibility from old images
Old photographs cannot establish the present condition of the landing, stairs, path, toilets, changing area, handrails, resting places or rescue arrangements. If mobility matters, ask for the exact sequence from boat to shore and the current facilities before selecting the stop.
Confirm whether a passenger can remain safely aboard if they decide not to land or swim. Review the Halong day-boat checklist for boarding, shelter, toilets and sit-out arrangements.
Which alternative matches the experience you want?
If the priority is an island beach
Ask whether the confirmed sailing includes Ti Top Island. Then choose between beach time and the viewpoint climb; they use time and physical effort differently. The Ti Top guide for cruise passengers explains that decision. Swimming still depends on current site, weather and crew instructions.
If the priority is easy seaside time
Bai Chay Beach is a mainland alternative near the cruise-port area. It does not reproduce an island landing or bay cruise, but it may suit passengers who want a simpler waterfront stop without booking a boat solely to reach sand. Check the actual walking and transport plan in the Bai Chay Beach access guide.

If the priority is bay scenery
Choose a confirmed route whose appeal does not depend on one beach. Ask which cave, lagoon or viewpoint is included and whether those stops fit the passenger’s mobility. A substitution should be judged by the experience it provides, not just by whether the boat continues to operate.
Keep the alternative inside the ship return plan
An unavailable beach does not automatically make a shared boat return earlier. The vessel may continue to other scheduled stops. Confirm the complete duration, final landing point, road transfer and remaining route back aboard your ocean ship.
If an access decision changes during the day, do not add an improvised stop that consumes the return buffer. The day-boat delay guide explains what to communicate when the sailing changes.
Send Halong Shore Excursion your Ship + Arrival Date and say whether swimming, an island setting, a viewpoint or a gentle waterfront visit matters most. The best choice is a currently confirmed experience that fits the port call and includes an acceptable fallback.
