Halong Shore Excursion

Can Passengers From Two Cruise Ships Share a Halong Excursion?

Passengers from two cruise ships can share a Halong excursion only when Halong Shore Excursion confirms that both ships’ release times, meeting places and safe return boundaries fit one plan. The excursion must protect the earlier or more restrictive ship deadline and return each passenger to the correct authorised entrance.

Being in Halong on the same date is not enough. The two groups may use different berths, tenders, exits, ship time or all-aboard instructions.

Build two Ship + Arrival Date records

For each vessel, provide:

  • full ship name;
  • Halong call date;
  • scheduled arrival and departure;
  • all aboard or last tender;
  • ship time versus local time;
  • berth or tender information;
  • passenger-release priority;
  • exact landing and authorised return point.

Do not merge the records into “both arrive in the morning.” Halong Shore Excursion needs both hard timelines.

Use the later workable start and earlier safe return

The joint excursion cannot start until both groups can realistically reach their confirmed meeting points. It must finish early enough for the ship with the first protected return boundary.

That overlap may be much shorter than either individual port call. The Halong usable-time calculation should be completed for each ship, then compared.

The port can receive two large ships

Halong International Cruise Port states that its international facility can receive two very large cruise ships at the same time. This does not mean both ships use an identical passenger route or release passengers together.

Review the two-ship Halong port-day guide for the effect on meeting areas, vehicles and sightseeing boats.

Choose one meeting model

Halong Shore Excursion should confirm one of these arrangements:

  • both parties walk to one verified public landmark;
  • one vehicle collects the first party, then the second;
  • two vehicles bring the parties to a common attraction or harbour;
  • the excursion remains separate because the handover cannot fit safely.

Each pickup adds time and the risk of a wrong exit. The guide should hold the lead passenger name and ship name for both parties.

A berth and a tender may not synchronise

One ship may be berthed while another uses a tender operation. Tender tickets, boarding sequence, sea conditions and landing time are controlled by the cruise line. A local operator cannot guarantee which tender a passenger receives.

If the second party cannot reach the meeting before the last workable start, use the pre-agreed split or cancellation rule.

What if one ship releases passengers late?

Do not let the first party wait without a cutoff. Halong Shore Excursion should state:

  • the latest time the joint excursion can still operate;
  • which stop is removed first;
  • whether the first group begins separately;
  • whether a second guide or vehicle is available;
  • how price changes if one party cannot join.

A private tour is flexible by agreement, but the guide and vehicle cannot be in two places without an assigned split plan.

One day boat can create a fixed cutoff

If both parties join the same Halong Bay day boat, local check-in and vessel departure may be the controlling deadline. The boat may not wait for passengers from a delayed ship.

Confirm the actual vessel, harbour, passenger information and missed-boarding rule. Separate road pickups do not change a shared boat’s timetable.

Return to the correct ship

The driver and guide should identify each vessel, authorised passenger entrance and target arrival. If the ships are at different points, calculate the complete first drop-off, second drive and second drop-off. Do not treat “back at the port” as completion.

Use the correct Halong cruise-port instruction for each return.

Should both groups use one vehicle?

One vehicle can work when all passengers, luggage, child seats and mobility equipment fit and both pickups and returns are practical. Separate vehicles can reduce the risk that one ship’s delay consumes the other’s excursion.

Ask which vehicle model is assigned and whether the price or operation changes if one party cancels.

Children and passenger responsibility

Each family keeps responsibility for its children. Do not send a minor with the other ship’s party to save pickup time without a confirmed guardian and documents. Count passengers by ship at every vehicle and boat transfer.

Keep documents separate

Every adult should control the cruise card and identification required for their own ship. One lead passenger may keep the excursion booking, but should not hold all documents for both vessels.

Save each ship’s emergency or port-agent contact separately. The two ships may appoint different local contacts.

Payment and cancellation rules

Ask whether the price is per person, per vehicle, per boat or per private group. Confirm what happens when one ship cancels the Halong call, arrives too late or changes departure. A reduced party can change the vehicle, boat or per-person total.

Do not send extra money to new payment details without using the Halong payment-verification checklist.

If one ship brings all aboard forward

Tell Halong Shore Excursion immediately. The operator should either shorten the joint programme, separate the returns or send both parties back using the earlier target. The excursion should not vote to ignore one ship’s instruction.

When separate excursions are safer

Keep the bookings separate when the ships have different tender uncertainty, distant meeting points, a narrow overlap, incompatible mobility needs or no practical split-return vehicle. The parties can still meet at one safe attraction if their independently protected schedules allow.

Two-ship sharing checklist

  • Two separate Ship + Arrival Date records supplied.
  • Ship time and local time checked for both.
  • Berth, tender and landing checked after arrival.
  • Later workable start calculated.
  • Earlier protected return adopted.
  • Pickup model and guide sign confirmed.
  • Vehicle and passenger capacity verified.
  • Day-boat cutoff understood.
  • Two correct return entrances mapped.
  • Late-release, cancellation and price rules agreed.

Share the excursion only when both ship timelines survive the same plan. Halong Shore Excursion’s decision sequence is Ship A + Arrival Date → Ship B + Arrival Date → later safe meeting → common transport and activity → earlier protected return → correct separate ship handovers. The smallest overlap controls the day.
