Halong Shore Excursion

Where Do Shore Excursions Pick Up at Halong Cruise Port?

Halong Shore Excursion pickups are normally in or immediately outside the Main Lobby at Halong International Cruise Port, but the exact point depends on the booked excursion. A private bay excursion may use the flagpole outside the entrance, while a shared departure may use a numbered ticket counter inside the lobby. Your final confirmation overrides every general example.

Do not interpret “port pickup” as gangway pickup. Confirm where the person meets you, where the vehicle waits and how the group moves between those points.

Which instruction applies to your booking?

Cruise-line excursion: follow the assembly point and time on the cruise line’s ticket, app or daily programme. Some ship excursions assemble onboard or use controlled pier arrangements, so independent-tour instructions may not apply.

Halong Bay 4 Hour Private Shore Excursion: the service page identifies the flagpole outside the Main Lobby entrance as the pickup point.

Halong Bay 6-Hour Deluxe Group Shore Excursion: the service page identifies Ticket Counter #3 inside the Main Lobby as the meeting point. Do not wait at the flagpole unless your own confirmation says so.

Another independent operator: request the inside/outside location, counter number or landmark, a contact and a backup point. “At the port” is incomplete.

Counter assignments and access can change. Use the final instruction for the ship and date, and follow any live ship or port direction that controls the permitted passenger route.

The route starts after clearance

  1. The ship arrives and completes local clearance.
  2. The ship announces that passengers may go ashore.
  3. Passengers use the assigned gangway or tender.
  4. They follow the controlled route to the terminal, walking or using internal transport when directed.
  5. They reach the Main Lobby, then stop inside or continue outside according to the confirmation.
  6. They verify the guide before moving to the excursion vehicle.

Do not book the meeting for the timetable’s arrival minute. Read the Halong excursion meeting-time guide and give the operator the ship and arrival date.

Allow for the berth-to-lobby journey

The international berth and terminal are separate. The passenger route can include a substantial distance, a queue or an internal vehicle wait. The ship-to-Main-Lobby guide explains why one walking-time promise is unreliable.

If an internal vehicle operates, confirm its destination and who may use it. A “shuttle bus” announcement may instead refer to a city transfer. Use the internal port transport guide.

Save a complete meeting pack offline

  • Ship name, arrival date and booking reference.
  • Exact meeting point, including inside or outside.
  • Counter number, landmark or provider-supplied photo.
  • Guide’s name or sign wording when available.
  • Local phone or messaging contact.
  • Agreed waiting rule if clearance is late.
  • Backup point if access changes.
  • Return point and earlier return target.

Keep a screenshot and a short paper note. A general port map pin may reach the terminal complex without identifying the pedestrian meeting point.

Verify the guide before leaving

Match the booking name, guide identity, agreed sign and operator contact. A stranger knowing the ship name is not enough. Use the Halong guide-verification checklist.

Do not hand an unverified person your passport, ship card or phone. If the guide or vehicle changes, confirm the replacement through the saved operator contact before leaving the public meeting area.

If the group is delayed or split

Choose one lead passenger to update the guide. Report the group’s current stage: still aboard, at the gangway, waiting for internal transport, inside the Main Lobby or at the outside landmark.

If some passengers are held back by mobility assistance, toilets or a later gangway release, tell the guide before the first group leaves. Do not create two uncoordinated meeting points.

When the guide is not visible, stay together at the confirmed point, send a landmark photo if practical and agree on the next point before moving. Follow the missing-guide recovery steps.

For wheelchair users and passengers needing assistance

Confirm who assists between the gangway, Main Lobby and vehicle. A guide waiting outside the terminal may not control the route inside the port.

Provide the device type, dimensions, weight, battery information and transfer ability. Confirm whether any internal vehicle and the excursion vehicle can carry it. Do not assume staff can lift the passenger or equipment.

If the agreed outside landmark is unsuitable in heat or rain, obtain one precise sheltered backup point rather than “somewhere inside.”

If the ship tenders or the landing changes

A tender, different terminal or changed passenger exit can invalidate the Main Lobby route. Follow the day-of instructions onboard and contact the operator before heading to an old meeting point.

Halong Shore Excursion should reconfirm the new landing, transfer to the guide and late-start alternative. Do not spend the protected return margin trying to preserve the original itinerary.

Confirm the return point separately

The morning meeting point may not be the place where the vehicle can legally return the group. Ask where the guide finishes, where passengers enter the port and how they complete the route aboard.

The port address is No. 9 Ha Long Road, Bai Chay, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. Save the name Cảng tàu khách quốc tế Hạ Long with the specific public entrance; the street address alone does not replace the return instructions.

Halong Shore Excursion can use Ship + Arrival Date → excursion-fit logic to align clearance, the operating route, meeting point, vehicle location and safe return. A useful confirmation gives one exact point and one backup, understood by the whole group.
